I’ve been on the phone night and day re: estate work as well as buying a nest of tables for the Gay Mother and only taking six hours’ sleep. So much to catch up on with failing strength.
The visit to Great Dixter was over two weeks ago. How lucky we were, how blessed with sunshine and the loveliness of England. Then there’s been the hog-roast in the Far West, dinner amongst the Damians with Ralph Kitto and an eBay fuelled dash to Brighton. Not to mention the upgrading of the home. More buying, more auction viewing.
I forgot about Ronnie Ronnie. He was seen recently at Ivor Soirey’s. As always he drew attention to his wig. Perhaps it’s a hair implant but it has a superb willed wig-impact. The colour, he explained, was between Stoat for winter and Ultra White Minx for summer.
But Dixter goes on in the absence of Christo. Life cannot be kept down here, even by Death, where gardening is the only life. This garden zings and never fails. Always a riot, no care for taste or propriety, glorious freedom but not chaos, endless renewal, more and more and more, pouring forth from a sparking human mind.
