The Manet PV at the Royal Academy – Recovery Position

Thursday 24th January 2013

Dear Royal Academy

I’m so sorry I couldn’t come to your PV for the Manet Exhib.

I was in the country, where the Gay Mother, 88, was doing John Dory with a Seville orange sauce of blinding elegance. She’s also got exquisite pots of iris on the window shelf which I forgot to graph.

We put the new curtains up. Val made them with fabric from Lewis and Wood down from £90 a metre. There was a crisis re: their completion before Christmas owing to Val having an extreme form of rest cure.

But they’re finished now.

Lewis and Wood – there’s nowhere else for fabrics.

Thank you for thinking of me for your PV, Royal Academy. To be honest, I’d have been stuck for something to wear. I’ve been v. tweedy and blouse and skirt recently in this cold weather.

Yours sincerely

Adrian Edge
