On the way to Bicester Designer Outlet Village on Monday (v. nice. No sign of any villagers though), Val, be-crutched and in pain after his sauce-fueled September fall (of all the Poor Little Rich Gays he lives most daringly on the verge) said: ‘I’m looking for some of those flower garlands they have in Hindu temples. I want to drape them on the Multis at the Blond’s birthday party.’ Later he asked: ‘Will we have to sit on the floor and do chanting? Will there be Tantric sex?’
We’ve been wondering, as you know, about India’s impact on the Multis. Would Yoga and dieting and sacrificial ceremonies by the Ganges convert them from bold entrepreneurial greatnesses into mumbling Mahatmas, weaving their own dhotis while working up a transcendental state.
Well, something’s happened. The Photo Multi, who is never himself graphed, now has been: caught tenderly by the Blond, who is himself skilled with the camera, in a dressing gown looking ravishing and voluptuous as if release of some kind has been achieved.
His art too is flourishing. Over the years he has taken many exceptional photographs. There is nothing like them: vigorous colours, striking compositions that never veer over into contrivance and freshness and spontaneity such as terrifies most ‘professional’ photographers.
Some breath-taking shots have been coming through from India. Here’s a selection:
