In the evening, it was announced from Fordingbridge that June Cut-Deeping, last heard of after Christmas refusing to mix with ‘old trouts not may tape’ on the ward, has made her final departure at 93. She was in the ATS with Anthony Mottram’s mother and they’d been bickering away ever since, for 70 years at least.  Their husbands were long gone.

Of infinite grandeur and splendid impossibility, I just never thought that June Cut-Deeping would agree to go.
