This absolute evening – in fact carriages have only just been called – the Multis dined in the gallery in honour of Kusama who did not gain from Japan. Next year is her retrospective at Tate Modern. In fact there’s eight months to scheme how to get in to the Opening. On the other hand, if the artist is herself too grand to attend…. I am quietly at home, preping for the Bath Abbey wedding on Friday. But I go to the Kusama Private View on Thursday.
Tomorrow will be my great mediation on marriage and how Wotan (from Wagner’s The Ring ) is a Poor Little Rich Gay.

what JOY you bring to this boreal spotte. What diamonds have you lit upon for Bath Abbey wear?
Dear Adrian – is that a statue to Sir Grayson Perrier?
Dear Adrian Edge
I think Miss Kusama did very well to stay in Japan. That dinner crowd looks awfully drab.
N Taudevin
Food imitating art (fart, I suppose)
I won’t have you criticising the event – I know that some of the most interesting rich people in London were there
You’re quite right. All rich people are interesting without exception.
Naughty
They’re banked down deliberately to conceal wealth. Under those grey coats they’re blazing with jewels except for the ones who actually are artists – although some of them have got the biggest brooches. The Photo Multi tried to graph the scene when, coatless, the dinner was underway but not even his lens could manage
J. Baring tried every Countess the length of the land. In the end of the only possibility was the Queen’s Coronation necklace but she wouldn’t lend it. The diamonds are a certain type and I’ve forgotten the name – I hope, temporarily
My art buying department specialist tells me that it IS the Statue of Perry Mason
Never judge a book by its cover Nick – and I think you know why
I think he does
Yes, dear, I’m sure it is
It’s rather hard to tell which is nastier: the food or the artworks?
Very bad and wrong
