Saturday 6th<\/sup> April 2013 (on board the Krystal Quest<\/em>)<\/p>\n

We\u2019re building up for the President\u2019s dinner in Acqualina. We\u2019re moored off Cannes. Randy Azurental and his beautiful wife, Poni (6 foot Louboutins), are to receive us. \u00a0Acqualina is top-end, done in boudoir powder-blue with white trim and crystal aspects. Otherwise there\u2019s Prime C, mahogany and red for a steakhouse feel, where we\u2019ve dined twice, once, amazingly on a paying basis; that was to see Chateau d\u2019If from the window as we passed last night, whence Monte Cristo\u2019s Count escaped. Otherwise we\u2019re in Windows Caf\u00e9 with six types of bacon, the patisserie selection hovered over by American ladies, wildly abandoning their sticks as they load up, the magnificent cheese lawn, the cured fish counter, the sugarless options, supplemented by crushed chicken in breadcrumbs (\u2018It seems quite entire to me,\u2019 Val said, trying it.) and the waffle and pancake hatch.<\/p>\n

What a limitless range!<\/p>\n

Only Discoveries has alluded us so far. That\u2019s the main restaurant on Deck 5. Val wants to try the Astral Spa for deep re-allignment but will probably take a lecture on the history of Aix and Avignon instead. We\u2019ve already had the Michael Bubl\u00e9 tribute\u00a0 and \u2018Danzare to Dance\u2019, a cabaret of which we took 15 minutes.\u00a0 Tonight is \u2018All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go,\u2019 given by the Cruise Director, who starred in a lovely musical, \u2018Gilbert and Sullivan\u2019, in London\u2019s West End.<\/p>\n

Claris from Australian Vogue has sought us out. She\u2019s wild for \u2018All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go\u2019. On the tender back from Cannes this morning, I was trying to convey facts about C\u00e2p Ferrat but she and Val were busy singing show tunes. Malcontents on board are homing in on us, singing show tunes and telling us about people on shore they know who play for our team.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m to wear velvet to the President\u2019s Dinner. There\u2019s a room full of slot machines and roulette wheels. The average income on board is supposed to be $250,000 but really\u2026. I\u2019ll say no more. Many of the husbands have sadly passed, or are even deceased. \u2018My husband is deceased,\u2019 a breakfasting lady said this morning.<\/p>\n

We spend hours studying literature offering options. We\u2019re furious to be missing the Bridge tour with Captain Ball.<\/p>\n

I’ve never been more exhausted in years.<\/p>\n
